Valencia Basket, seventh club to win European titles in both men's and women's categories
With the title of the EuroCup Women won last Sunday in Hungary beating Reyer Venezia in the final, the Valencia Basket women's professional team inaugurated its continental record with the first title for Rubén Burgos' girls. Taking into account that the entity has in its showcases four trophies of the EuroCup in the men's category (the last of them raised exactly two years ago against ALBA Berlin), the taronja squad became the first Spanish basketball club that has won continental titles in both male and female categories.
To put this data even more in context, since European club competitions for men and women began to be played in 1958, only six clubs had achieved in those 63 years that both their men's and women's teams raised a continental trophy. Valencia Basket is now the seventh member of a select club that already included Spartak Leningrad, USK Praha, Crvena Zvezda, CSKA Moscow, Dynamo Moscow and Galatasaray.
